SmartStream has been working with clients on a proof of concept for profiling and predicted intraday settlement activity – both missed payments and receipts identification for settlement within current date. With the AI module, cash management teams will be able to monitor more of the payment process and manage liquidity risk more efficiently, minimising the potential of payments being missed. AI Accurately Detects Melanomas

AI algorithms can identify melanomas in dermoscopic images with an accuracy comparable to human specialists. The study included more than 1,500 images of skin lesions from more than 500 patients, who were all treated from January 2017 to July 2018 at one of seven hospitals in the UK. AI Helps Predict When DCIS Will Progress to Invasive Breast Cancer

Researchers have uncovered a new way to determine when ductal carcinoma in situ (DCIS) is most likely to progress to a more invasive cancer. The team used an advanced computer program to examine lumpectomy tissue samples from 62 different patients diagnosed with DCIS. This helped them focus on certain features of the tissue samples—tumor size and orientation, to be specific—that seemed to suggest a higher likelihood of DCIS progression. Those features were then combined with machine learning to establish detailed risk categories. Read More

Now Get Better Oral Hygiene With AI!

Oral-B has launched an electronic toothbrush, Oral-B Genius X, that uses AI to help customers brush better. An app guides brushers by displaying a timer and suggesting which area of the mouth to focus the bristles. The brush has sensors that detect the amount of pressure and where in the mouth, the user is focusing. Using this data, the app’s “Genius X AI algorithm” makes suggestions when applying too much pressure or not spending enough time in a particular area.
