AI Driven Financial Tools to Help Simplify the Supply Chain Platform

Global eTrade Services (GeTS), a supply chain platform provider, has added a suite of financial tools including global payments, trade finance and cargo insurance services to its Calista trade platform in a bid to ease the financing process for its users. The addition of financing tools follows the launch of Calista Intelligent Agent (IA), built on the platform to optimise supply chain choices by integrating AI. The Calista IA can provide users with insights on route options, free trade agreements, import and export rules and other value-added services. It can help to provide better freight options, based on budget and preferred timelines. Users are also able to receive updates of cargo status and movement, with the Calista IA recommending the best next steps to take in case of any unforeseen circumstances. Read More

AI to Help ALS Patients Speak with Their Own Voice

With help from the Motor Neurone Disease Association and companies including Intel and Microsoft, Rolls-Royce developed a new tool called Quips. It uses AI in combination with a technique called voice banking to learn the unique way its users spoke before they lost the ability to speak. Voice banking is something motor neuron disease (MND) patients can do before they start to lose their voice. By recording clips of their speech, doctors can use the samples to create a synthetic voice that the person can then later use to communicate with when their condition worsens. What's more, it will do its best to speak using the same accent and colloquialisms that its user did when they could talk. Read More

An AI Technology That Uses Algae to Fight Climate Change

A team of researchers at the AI technology company, Hypergiant, see algae as a weapon that can be harnessed for our benefit. They recently built an AI-powered machine, the EOS bioreactor, that takes advantage of algae's ability to capture carbon dioxide through photosynthesis. They say that by optimizing the growing environment for algae, their bioreactor can draw as much carbon dioxide out of the air as an acre of trees. Read More

Behold an Era of Interactive Conversational AI with New Inference Software

NVIDIA introduced groundbreaking inference software that developers everywhere can use to deliver conversational AI applications, slashing inference latency that until now has impeded true, interactive engagement. NVIDIA TensorRT 7 opens the door to smarter human-to-AI interactions, enabling real-time engagement with applications such as voice agents, chatbots and recommendation engines. TensorRT 7 features a new deep learning compiler designed to automatically optimize and accelerate the increasingly complex recurrent and transformer-based neural networks needed for AI speech applications. This speeds up the components of conversational AI by more than 10x compared to when run on CPUs, driving latency below the 300-millisecond threshold considered necessary for real-time interactions. The Next Step in Taking Quantum Commercial

Intel Labs has unveiled what is believed to be a first-of-its-kind cryogenic control chip – code-named “Horse Ridge” – that will speed up the development of full-stack quantum computing systems. Horse Ridge is a highly integrated, mixed-signal SoC that brings the quantum bits (qubit) controls into the quantum refrigerator – as close as possible to the qubits themselves. It will enable control of multiple qubits and set a clear path toward scaling larger systems – a major milestone on the path to quantum practicality. With Horse Ridge, Intel radically simplifies the control electronics required to operate a quantum system. Read More
